About

Dear visitor,

Laura Riveiro is a Galician-Spanish illustrator and multimedia artist with an MFA in Illustration Practice from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she graduated in 2021. From an early age, she loved to draw, paint, build paper-mâché structures, read, and sew. She spent countless hours exploring her grandmother’s attic, an early 20th-century treasure trove that fueled her curiosity and sense of adventure.

Laura spent five years studying and working in Sweden, a place she calls home. In 2019, she moved to the U.S. to attend MICA, where she explored new mediums like linoleum, clay, and gouache, and honed her skills in disciplines such as lithography and mixed media book art.

Raised in a bilingual household, Laura is fluent in both Galician and Spanish. Her passion for languages led her to earn a degree in English Linguistics and Literature at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and later to become fluent in Swedish during her time abroad.

Her goal is to work as an illustrator and writer of picture books for children and adults, creating stories in multiple languages to reach diverse audiences.

In her free time, Laura enjoys swimming, hiking, and spending time with her family.
